Snow Leopard Is Here!

August 28, 2009

OS X 10.6

Today Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard came out, and thank god, I ordered it in advance. Snow Leopard is basically an improvement on 10.5 Leopard, and you can read about that in Mac VS. PC. Snow Leopard is faster, more efficient, and takes up less space on your hard drive. In fact, before I installed it today I had 177.2 Gigabytes left on my hard drive. Now, I have 189.46 left! That’s 12.26 GB smaller than Leopard! Apple says, “In ways big and small, Mac OS X Snow Leopard makes your Mac faster, more reliable, and easier to use.” and ” Mac experience…fine-tuned”.

The Finder has been updated, it’s mainly cocoa, though. You can also customize your spotlight searches, read multi-paged documents (in icon form) in the Finder, or watch a QuickTime movie in Finder icon form. According to Apple.com, start up is 2x faster and shut down is 1.8x, or 80% faster than Leopard.

Here’s my favorite part: QuickTime X! On QuickTime X, X standing for 10, you can share to iTunes or YouTube, you can screen record, audio record, or record with your webcam. QuickTime videos are also viewable in Exposé, so when you go into Exposé, you can still watch it. Videos in QT can also be trimmed, such as on the iPhone. The video playback is also in higher resolution and is smoother. And come on, who doesn’t love the new logo?

There is a few more things, such as Chinese Character Input with your Multi-Touch Trackpad, iChat has higher resolution, 80 % faster Time Machine backup, automatic printer driver updates & automatic time zone setup and something else that wasn’t that important. I’m going to get into that stuff, but, what I will say is, THIS is the OS (X)  you have to get if you want speed, performance, and an over all great experience with an easy to use interface (not to mention it looks way better than PC), then you want Snow Leopard.

August 14, 2009

Hey this is The Jeary helping out Bandew. I don’t know if you know about this but there are alot of pages on Bandew’s site so I thought I would explain what they do for you. S0 let’s say that you wanted to find a thing on wallpapers for your backround of your desktop that are related to Bandew then you could just go to the page to the right that says B4 Wallpapers. Let’s travel to the right to see the page of the merchandise he sells on the page labeled merch. So now the final page is the logo page and this is one of the best. Things That are Disappearing

July 23, 2009

Hey Jeary here. Do you remember in school learning about card catalogs, and cassette tapes? I do. I was on the internet and saw a head liner that said, “100 Disappearing Things“. I thought I would look and I just thought it was crazy how all of these things would be something my children (when I have some) would ever know about. I think I will name 20 of them so you can know a few. To see more then just click on the link above.

Audio-Visual Entertainment

1.Inserting a VHS tape into a VCR to watch a movie or to record something.

2. Vinyl records. Even today’s DJs are going laptop or CD.

3. Standard-definition, CRT TVs filling up half your living room.

4. 3-D movies meaning red-and-green glasses.

Computers and Videogaming

5. Recording a song in a studio.

6. Turning a PlayStation on its end to try and get a game to load.

7. 5- and 3-inch floppies, Zip Discs and countless other forms of data storage.

8. Wondering if you can afford to buy a RAM upgrade.

The Internet

9. Finding out information from an encyclopedia.

10. Using a road atlas to get from A to B.

11. Phone books and Yellow Pages.

12. The time before PC networks.

Gadgets

13. Sending that film away to be processed.

14. Typewriters.

15. Answering machines.

16. Pay phones.

Everything Else

17. A physical dictionary — either for spelling or definitions.

18.Writing a check.

19. Cash.

20. Libraries as a place to get books rather than a place to use the internet.

Do you see all of this. Can you imagine your child never knowing what these were. I can’t if you were to ask me. Keep the views coming to my site also. If you want a shirt you can go to this link and find some shirts to buy.

As Stock Market Recovers, Mac is Outgrowing PC

July 1, 2009

MacBook ProFinder

2008 and 2009 have been tough on everyone, but now there is a small amount of recovery, especially for Apple.

Macs are beating PC in sales growth, even before Apple released the new Mac Book Pro in June. Apple reported shipment increases of 25% while PC shipments were only up 1%. Morgan Stanley analyst, Kathryn Huberty is predicting 2.5 million Mac sales for this quarter. Apple sold 2.2 million Macs in the second quarter of 2009, 3% less than the same quarter in 2008. Considering the current state of the economy, that 3% decline in sales is not that significant. If 2.5 million are sold, it wont be very out of the ordinary from the 2.496 million Macs sold in the third quarter of 2008. Apple’s website has also had an impressive amount of page views, almost doubling that of Hewlett-Packard (HP), who is there nearest competitor in page views.
